Halloween tradition two thirds of Aussies refuse to embrace


Love it or hate it, Halloween has certainly become very much a part of Australian culture over the past decade or so, and even more so the past few years.

Halloween occurs on October 31, which is the night before All Saints Day. The word 'Halloween' is actually derived from the term All Hallows Eve.

While detractors argue Halloween is largely a North American tradition, it actually has Celtic, Gaelic and Christian links.

Certainly a big part of Halloween in countries where it is celebrated is dressing up and holding Halloween parties.
